Beginning during the 2009-2010 school year, a component of Internet Safety instruction is required by the Illinois State Board of Education in our schools at grade levels 3-8. As a component of the district’s instructional plan, Internet Safety tips in the home will be shared with parents on October 8, 2009 at Peacock Middle School. Beginning at 5:00 p.m., Itasca School District #10 residents will have the opportunity to meet Erik Estrada (star in television series Chips), who will be one of the presenters. The presentation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.
Curriculum Nights in District #10
18 09 2009With each school implementing an Open House during the first four weeks of school, families had the opportunity to hear more about the curriculum content applied within our schools. All classroom teachers and specialists were available to share components of their instructional programs.

First Day of School for 2009-2010
19 08 2009The first day of school was very successful. On a bright sunny day of August 19th, our district’s principals greeted the students as they eagerly entered the schools. Teachers had worked very hard at preparing their classrooms for instruction.

“Meet the Principal” event was a big success!
18 08 2009The IEPTO parent organization for the primary and intermediate schools hosted a very successful “Meet the Principal” event for the newly employed leader of Elmer H. Franzen Intermediate School, Mr. Jeff Murphy. The school’s principal, Mr. Murphy is shown below greeting a student at this very special event.

Board Members Open New Hallway
18 08 2009New for the 2009-2010, four mobile classrooms have been added to Franzen Intermediate School. The mobiles were free of charge to Itasca School District #10. With a grant from the State of Illinois, State Representative Reboletti was instrumental in providing a $100,000 to our district. The funds were used to build an attached hallway between Franzen Intermediate School and the mobile classrooms. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Franzen Intermediate School
16 08 2009To celebrate the completion of the newly constructed hallway at Franzen Intermediate School, a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Monday, August 17th at 4:30 p.m. The new hallway connects the school to mobile classrooms, which have recently been placed at the school. The mobile classrooms have been added to the school so as to provide the necessary classroom space for instruction due to increased enrollment.

Itasca Parade on May 25, 2009
25 05 2009Itasca School District marched in the Itasca Parade, which was held on May 25, 2009. Fifth grade students who participated in the DARE program throughout the school year marched together as a team. Showing their outstanding skills, the Peacock Marching Band members displayed their excellence as they traveled through the streets of Itasca. Great job students!

Celebration for Four Retirees
23 05 2009At the end of the 2008-2009 school year, four outstanding educators will be retiring from Itasca School District. The retirees are Joanna Medwick, Ilse Bolle, Patricia Butler and Donna Dengler (shown below left to right). At a Retirement Dinner on May 20, 2009, they were honored for their accomplishments, as well as their dedication to educating the children in the Village of Itasca.

5th Grade Tour of Itasca
15 05 2009Fifth grade students participated in the Tour of Itasca on Friday, May 15, 2009. This annual event involves the fifth graders visiting several entities in the Village of Itasca.
